We’re closing our stores and website for Black Friday, as we do every year.
Before the hustle of the holiday season, it gives our staff an extra day to spend time with family or head out into the waves, hills or woods. And as we’ve shared in the past, the all-out consumerism of Black Friday isn’t something we’re comfortable being part of. While fast fashion prioritizes high profit at high speed, ANIÁN is committed to working more slowly and carefully—with quality, durability and circularity as our guides.
On that note, we have some exciting news. Thanks to our community, we’ve now been able to recycle over 1,000,000 pounds of textile waste. That’s over 453,592,000 grams of thrown-away garments that we've sorted, shredded and re-spun into bolts of recycled fabric for new ANIÁN clothes. Since most of that waste would have been heaped into landfills, it's a practical solution that helps address the worldwide waste crisis and reduce the resources needed for production.
For us, this milestone is a big deal, and it’s something we never would’ve imagined while making our first recycled Meltons over a decade ago. Your support has made it possible, and we want to express our appreciation for your choice to shop recycled.
There’s much more to do, and much farther to go—so have a great Friday, hopefully somewhere in nature, and we’ll be open again and back at it this weekend.
