From offshore waters to inland forests and streams, wild salmon are the foundation of life in our part of the world. But their survival isn’t guaranteed.
In the face of habitat loss, climate change, fishing pressure and other factors, salmon returns are now more than 70% below their historical averages. For ANIÁN, that’s why the mission of the Pacific Salmon Foundation is so critical to support. In collaboration with Indigenous and community partners, the PSF has helped fund over 3,500 projects that contribute to habitat restoration and future of wild Pacific salmon populations.
In all weather and all seasons, the Foundation’s staff work on dozens of projects that range from tagging salmon and studying food sources to researching toxins in stormwater runoff and working with First Nations on urgent actions to get salmon through to their spawning grounds when drought-stricken rivers become too low to swim.
Inspired by the efforts of the PSF, we wanted to help—and as our water-shedding Tin Cloth Hat has become a favourite of guides and scientists in the field, we sewed a limited edition featuring the Foundation’s iconic yellow logo.
20% of each sale will go to fund the practical work of the Pacific Salmon Foundation. With wild salmon now making their journey home to rivers near our headquarters on Vancouver Island, it’s a perfect time to help support the miraculous life cycle that everything here relies on.
